Shopping to go back to school / De compras para el cole

I received some nice photos showing some of the girls when they were taken to buy some shoes and clothes for school. Mariam is one of the new girls that arrived to the Home. The other two I remember them well from my visit last year, Marion and little Rehana who always has a smile on her face.The girls have now settled down for the first semester. As always,they remain focused to perform well in School

Recibí unas fotos muy bonitas de algunas de las niñas cuando recientemente las llevaron a comprar zapatos y ropa para ir al colegio. Mariam es una de las nuevas niñas que han llegado a la casa. A las otras dos las recuerdo bien de mi visita el año pasado. Marion y la pequeña Rehana, que siempre sonríe. Las niñas han comenzado el primer semestre, están asentadas y muy enfocadas en tener un buen rendimiento en el colegio

Quería enmendar algo que he venido haciendo desde que comencé con esta iniciativa y es escribir todo en inglés. Prometo escribir mucho más en español para aquellos que me sigáis y os resulte un poco pesado el inglés. Vuelvo a aprovechar para daros las gracias y animaros a que sigáis apoyando esta iniciativa y se lo contéis a cuanta más gente mejor.

En el anterior post he incluido un email precioso que me envió Joseph Chege (Fundador de la casa con su esposa Shiro y el que soporta los gastos personalmente)  adjuntando los recibos de las compras que hizo con el dinero que conseguimos enviar. No era mucho pero pudo incluso pagar algunas tasas escolares de las niñas, que como ya sabéis, se pagan incluso en los colegios estatales ya que la enseñanza no es gratuita.

I am very delayed in updating and apologise for it. Rather than try to write explaining what Joseph said after they could use the money received, I am attaching images containing the lovely "Thank you" Email he sent as well as receipts showing how the funds were spent. As you know, this was always my intention that all of you - who very kindly contribute - could see how the money helps the girls.

Funds received in Kenya!!

I had confirmation from Joseph last Tuesday that the money arrived to Kenya, 68,982 Kenyan Shillings. He was extremely grateful and will start purchasing stuff required for the girls - who are now back in school after the Christmas Break - and receipts will be produced to be shared on this page. Thank you all again for your support

Funds raised in 2015

After some technical issues, I have managed to send the funds collected this past year 2015 to Bethany Village Home.

The amount finally sent was £473 (Nearly $700). You can see on the "Gogetfunding" page the total amount raised was £505. The charges from Gogetfunding are 4% and Paypal charge 5% for receiving the money so total charges from both were £31.8

I tried a while back to look for a fund raising platform that is free but could not find any. This is pretty bizarre and also annoying, I would welcome any advise if any of you know of a truly free fundraising page.

Once the money is received, it will be spent on some of the girls more pressing needs and all will be justified and detailed on this blog and the Facebook page.

News from the Home and funding update

I had some news from Bethany Home in Nairobi at the end of November. Two more girls have been brought to the house from a slum in Nairobi. This has added pressure as space is already tight but Shiro and Joseph felt they could not reject the girls. Their names are Mariam and Rehana, victims of child labour and suspected abuse.
More than ever help is needed and Christmas time is not far. 
I will post this week the summary of available funds collected so far that are ready to support the Home's most urgent needs. Joseph has listed this and they include rain boots, coats, school uniforms, books, mosquito nets, bed linen and school shoes for the new girls...etc
As it was my intention, every spend will be receipted. I am trying to work out the logistics for the transfer and this is taking time
